2010 Morel Burnsite Foray #2- Washington State

Info And Registration

This event will fill quickly, register today!

Come and join Chris Matherly in the heart of the mountains of Washington State, where he will lead a special group interested in  learning about fire burn Morels. There were several key fires in 2009, and Chris and his contacts will pick out some of the best possible hot-spots for big Morel flushes! Due to a cool and wet spring, the flushing is extended well into July! Chris will teach the group what to look for, proper harvesting techniques, and how to dry "a lot" of morels at one time! Morel Country! Several special locations should reveal clumps of Blacks, Grays and Yellows!  This is quite a bit different than the other forays Chris offers, as it is up to four full days of hunting, and 2 meals per day are included on a daily basis! Yes, you can choose how many days you want to attend!! You can camp along with Chris and his retired professional mushroom harvester and guide that will accompany him, or if you choose, you can stay at a nearby hotel or lodge. Daily hot showers are available in the campsite! All of your Morels you pick are yours! And, we will help get them dried for you! Any permits required are included in the cost! Don't miss out on this fun filled event, learning experience, and hopefully a lot of Morels to take home! Limited to the first 15 registrants!

Chris will give "hands-on" instruction! But even if you are an old-tyme die-hard Morel Hunter, you won't want to miss this great opportunity to hunt with Chris and taste some of his wonderful cooking! Above photo taken during the 2008 Michigan Foray! If you are an East-Of-The-Mississippi Morel hunter and have never experienced the western burnsite morel flushes, you don't want to miss this!

Clumps like these are common to see. The above photos were taken in Washington State June 2008.

The amazing Blackfoot Morel grows in these burns!

This clump of three Morels made there way to national television, as they were filmed along with Chris and used in an episode of Modern Marvels on the History Channel!

Also filmed in Washington State June 2008.

We will help get you "rigged up" with the picking baskets and all if you want us to! Each basket holds about 18 pounds of Morels! I have personally seen pickers come out of the woods with 5 baskets at once!

Bring your buckets!

Your Morels will be dried and packaged daily for you to take home!

Above shows 8 different edible species that went into a special mushroom soup!

Dandelion greens and coal miner's lettuce in a special wild salad topped with bacon and green onions and Chris' special sauce!

We were even lucky enough to find a ripe truffle in June of 2010 so Chris uses it along with Morels in this pasta dish!

Mushroom omelet and all the fixings!

Fried Morels and two meals daily!

The food will be OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!
