Mushroom pickers robbed

A group of mushroom pickers were robbed near Alexis Creek last week.

The Alexis Creek RCMP say the robbery took place on Tuesday, July 5 at about 2 a.m.

Three males entered a mushroom-picking camp along the 1700 Road about an hour north of Alexis Creek.

The three males then robbed the group of about 100 pounds of mushrooms and stole a green 1997 Dodge truck with a green canopy, with a B.C. licence plate number of 4209GT.

A 48-year-old man was bear sprayed and then assaulted by one of the male suspects when attempting to stop them.

The victim was taken to the medical clinic in Alexis Creek where he was treated and released with minor injuries.

Since the incident occurred during the night, there is limited information regarding the suspects’ descriptions, police say but note the suspects were driving a newer red dually truck with a possible red ATV (racing style) on the back.

No plate number could be obtained.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Cpl. C. Eggen at the Alexis Creek RCMP detachment by calling 250-394-4211 or toll-free at 1-866-726-7233, or call Crime Stoppers.
