If you have followed this site, then you have seen photos posted for the past 8 years of these giant beautiful Morels that we found here in the very deep South! This is a remote location, private land, and we have just received clearance to have a day or two of hunting in this very rare site, where giant Morels are gonna be there dry weather, wet weather, it don't matter, they are always here every year, and just enormous in size. You may find them up to 14 inches or more, and they have 1/2" thick walls! ! Find amazing Morels and learn many other edible varieties. We will have our "Base Camp" in Forsyth, GA. located about 10 miles north of Macon, Georgia. Details will be emailed to you after you register. There are also two close by State Parks that you can camp at if you wish.
Registration fee is for the cooking demonstrations, Power-Point Presentation, T-shirts and DVD. The actually hunting is free and public is welcome. Each person is on there own to cover any permits required or day passes for the forest that we will be hunting in.
What is included?
* Friday Night Meet and Chat at the Hotel.
* 1 1/2- Days of guided Morel hunting.
* Lunch and drinks for Day One.
* A very nice Morel Club T-Shirt w/ Foray date and location on the back.
* A DVD movie of our foray and events (mailed to you within 12 months of the event).
* A Mushroom presentation at the hotel on Saturday Eve by Chris Matherly.
* And best of all- A Steak and Morel Feast, including Fried Morels, Cream Of Morel Soup, appetizers and side-dishes, and a special Italian dish- Fettuccini Alfredo with Grilled Chicken and Morels!
The Food: (The meal alone would go for upwards of $75 per plate in a nice restaurant)
We first start off with a delicious appetizer- Stuffed Jalapeņos, with morels, cream cheese, bacon bits, and ramps or wild onions.
Then, we have a side-dish of a wild edible plant such as Poke or Nettles, something very unique and delicious.
Then of course, fried Morels!
Wild Mushroom Soup- This is my specialty, many have told me "this is literally the best soup I've ever had!"
Grilled steak, topped with mushroom sauce and finally...
Mushroom alfredo pasta! (Sometimes topped with fiddleheads)
