Description:

Common Name: Puffball Cap: Softball sized rounded puffballs, white to a little tannish.  Flesh: White, turning brown or greenish with age. Very thick, solid, not hollow, Gills: N/A Stalk: Thick, tapered to the larger ball on top.  Fruiting: Scattered and clustered on in lawns, usually in grassy areas. Summer and Fall, sometimes Winter in warmer climates.  Edibility: An choice edible mushroom.  Note: All of the above mushrooms were found in September 2004 in Crawford  County in Georgia.
