Description:

Common Name: Common Chanterelle Cap: yellow to orange, medium to large, rounded when young, becoming flat, then depressing in the center, and may become funnel shaped. Wavy margin Flesh: Firm, thick, creamy. Fragrant fruity smell. Gills: Pale yellow, blunt, thick, branched, widely spaced and continue down the stalk. Stalk: Medium, colored pale yellow, smooth. Fruiting: Scattered and clustered on soil. Summer and Fall. Woods mainly. Edibility: An choice edible mushroom.  Note: All of the above mushrooms were found in September 2004 in Crawford and Twiggs Counties in Georgia.
