Description:

Common Name: Columned Stinkhorn Cap:   Flesh: soft, delicate, very terrible smell smell. Gills:  Stalk: Notice they first start as an "egg".  Fruiting: Scattered and clustered on soil, usually in mulched areas, and most common in the Southeast.  Can occur anytime, even in winter.   Edibility: NO! Yuck!  Note: All of the top mushrooms were found in December 2004 in Jasper County, GA. Lower photo was taken in Tennessee in February 2005.
