Clavaria vermicularis goes by the common name White Worm Coral.  I have eaten it and sautéed in butter it's not bad, I  have eaten a heck of a lot worse.  They are extremely brittle and hard to get from woods to frying pan.  Found in the summer months.  Photo taken on Mount Roosevelt in Roane County, TN.
