The First Morel Of 2007 Contest

There is a prize that will be given for the first Morel Mushroom found. I am sorry, but California and Hawaii is excluded, as it is common to find Landscape Morels in January there, although it hasn't occurred yet. What I will need is a photo of your Morel clearly visible, with your local town's newspaper in the photo that the date can be clearly visible. Example:

I reserve the right to discard any photo that I cannot clearly see the date, or if I feel uncomfortable in anyway, no questions asked. I also may request to see additional photos, angles, etc. There is no exclusion in size, as long as I can clearly see that it is a Morel. Please don't try to unthaw your frozen Morel and fool me. Let's make this legit! You do not have to be a current member to participate! There will be a $50.00 Cash Prize Given!

Update- as of 3-10-07: California now has one report of a Landscape Morel, and I found one lonesome Morel here in Georgia on March 9th. Since I cannot win my own contest, the contest is still on! I expect that Eastern Texas, or someone else in Georgia or South Carolina should win this contest within the next week or so. Maybe, if possible, in the future I will have some sort of first Morel contest for each State, we will see.....Good luck, and email me your first Morel Pics!

March 14th, 2007: Eric Asbury, - general location = Henry County, Ga, south of atlanta, Growing Conditions = Growing in sandy soil near a tulip tree..  Additional Comments = this is the earliest i have found them, just one, and i am worried that it is all dried out, we need rain bad!
