Description:
Common Name: Hedgehog. Cap: 2-4", pale orange-yellow to reddish brown, medium to large, thick and rounded, flat with age, wavy sometimes lobed margin. Flesh: Stains brownish-orange when bruised, white and a little brittle, no odor. Spines: (teeth) white to pinkish buff, small. Stalk: Thick, colored like cap or lighter. Fruiting: Can be solitary or clustered, from the ground. Fairly common in summer and fall across all of North America. Edibility: A choice edible mushroom.
