2008 Washington State Wilderness Experience Burnsite Foray Info And Registration
Come and join Chris Matherly and August Steinborn, a professional Commercial Mushroom harvester in Washington State for the 2008 Morel Mushroom Hunting Club's Wilderness Experience Morel Burnsite Foray. We may find up to 6 different species of Burn Morels on this Foray! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity so make sure you register immediately, as it will be on a first come first served basis, and limited to the first 10 registrants.
This is a remote wilderness area, no phone, no TV, no internet! No people, other than our small group! Just wildlife, and nature sounds, and lots of Morels!

Where: 1 Hour from Yakima, Washington
When: August 7th-12th, including 3 full days of harvesting Morels!!

Itinerary:
Thursday, August 7th- Arrival in Yakima, meet and
greet. 7:00 PM
Supplied transportation to hotel from Seattle if you need it.
Rooms already reserved for guests and paid for.
Friday.
Depart to the Wilderness area about an hour drive from Yakima. We will leave
early, and hike into camp all in the same day, hopefully in time to take a quick
burnsite tour!
Saturday-Sunday-Monday
7:30 AM Breakfast,
8:30am. and on to 5:00pm guests will be be given hands on instruction on
harvesting.
6:00pm. Supper.
7:00pm. Campfire Activities.
Tuesday
Morning Breakfast. Cooked by camp cook
Preparation for departure. Another Hotel room will be included for Tuesday
Night, and again, if you need transportation back to Seattle, we will leave
early Wednesday Morning, it is about a 2 hour drive.
-A Satellite Phone will be onsite in case of emergencies-
This particular location is NOT open for commercial pickers! We should be all by ourselves there, as it is remote, and no commercial picking allowed!
Bear Mace will be provided, as well as a crash course in Wildlife encounters.
Guns
As to firearms it is real easy for you to bring their own. Just a matter of letting the airlines know.

A gorgeous view of mountainous areas. Truly a Wilderness setting, and an unforgettable experience of a lifetime!
2 nights hotel accommodations, and transportation to and from Seattle (if you need it) All Meals are included, I have hired a special outfitter to set up camp and cook our meals. We will hike into a remote area at the edge of the burn to set up camp, and hunt (harvest) Morels for 4 days! We will help you dry your Morels, or keep some fresh in coolers to take back home. Elk, Moose, Deer, Wolves, Black Bear and Cougar may be spotted. The Morels in these burn areas are thick, everywhere, and will give you an experience you will never forget! I will do some cooking demonstrations each evening. All food and drinks are included in this trip. All you need to bring is hiking gear, a back pack, personal items, and a sleeping bag!
The above photo, I took in a very similar burn area in Washington the end of June. The location we are going to had so much snow, the pass is still closed as of July 1st. The first 2 weeks of August will be absolutely prime picking!
Bring in your Morels at the end of each day, and we will dry them overnight and package them ready for you to take home!

Any necessary assistance in helping you with travel. It will be best to fly into Seattle, as fares are best here. I have had prices as cheap as $450.00 from Atlanta.
