"Current and Upcoming Mushroom Related Contests"

Currently, the 7th Annual Morel Mushroom Hunting Club's Mushroom Photo Contest is well underway, and deadline to place your vote for your favorite photo is March 15th, 2007. Next year, the Photo Contest will be a little different. I am adding two additional categories. You need to dig in the attic to find some oldies but goodies for one category, and the other one is for Mushroom Artwork. The two- new categories should make next year's contest more fun than ever! Now, other Contests. Yes, There is more. Three more in fact!
1. There is a prize that will be given for the first Morel Mushroom found. I am sorry, but California and Hawaii is excluded, as it is common to find Landscape Morels in January there, although it hasn't occurred yet. What I will need is a photo of your Morel clearly visible, with your local town's newspaper in the photo that the date can be clearly visible. Example:
I reserve the right to discard any photo that I cannot clearly see the date, or if I feel uncomfortable in anyway, no questions asked. I also may request to see additional photos, angles, etc. There is no exclusion in size, as long as I can clearly see that it is a Morel. Please don't try to unthaw your frozen Morel and fool me. Let's make this legit! You do not have to be a current member to participate! There will be a $50.00 Cash Prize Given!
2. Largest Morel Found in 2007. Submit me your photos of what you think may be the largest Morel in The USA! The deadline for entry is June 30th, 2007! This time, I will require two photos total, one photo of your giant Morel just like above- with your local newspaper and date clearly visible. This will verify that it is this year not last year. Secondly, I will need your mushroom laid down or standing up, with a clear and visible tape measure next to it. Examples:

Just a photo like this will not do: (and it would be too bad, as this one is probably 18 inches plus!
Prizes for the biggest Morel will be tallest total inches. There are too many discrepancies in height plus width, so sorry if you find one that is 8 inches tall and 30 inches around! A 9 inch tall and 2 inches wide will beat it! The prize for this will be interesting, I am awarding Three Prizes! Yes, you heard correctly! Here are the three categories:
Largest Morchella semilibera, Prize- $25.00 Cash
Largest Morchella angusticeps, Prize- $25.00 Cash
Largest Morchella esculenta, Grand Prize- $100.00 Cash, Plus one of Tom Nauman's Morel Walking Sticks, Plus a DVD and T-shirt from The Morel Mushroom Hunting Club!

3. A Morel Mushroom Cooking (Recipe) Contest. (Later I may do other Wild Mushrooms, but this first year I am doing only Morel Recipes) Entries must include detailed recipe info, a title of your creation, I need your name, address and telephone number. These can be either fresh Morels, or dried. I will need the following photos emailed to me:
a. A photo of all ingredients combined together.
b. A photo of each step that you have to do-
c. A Finished Product.
I will be looking for these things:
1. How easy can I or anyone else make the recipe.
2. Uniqueness. - There are a lot of similar recipes. I am looking for original! Or a twist on an old original!
3. Taste/ Flavor
4. Appearance- make sure your final product photo is awesome- hint- decorate plate with a flower, or something attractive.
Deadline for this contest will be July 31st, 2007. You have plenty of time, so be thinking up your creative cooking recipes! I will be posting all entries to each contest. I will not post them until contest is over!
Prizes for this will be announced. Keep watch on the main webpage for more details. I will be looking for sponsors from all of my mushroom Buddies- So expect a wide assortment of prizes, and I also will be giving a Cash Prize on top of everything else of $100.00 Cash!
