Description:

Common Name: Angel Wings Cap: White to slightly creamy. Most books call for these to be 1-4 inches, however, these particular ones were more like 6-7 inches accross. Fan shaped, wavy margin Flesh: Thin, white. Gills: descending to stublike base, crowded, narrow, white to cream. Spore Print: White. Stalk: Stalkless. Fruiting: On decaying coniferous wood. Summer and Fall.  Range: Mainly northern North America, but these were found in Georgia. Edibility: An good edible mushroom. Look-alikes: Pleurotus ostreatus, (common Oyster Mushroom) which grows on deciduous dead wood Note: All of the above mushrooms were found in September 2004 in Twiggs County in Georgia.
