Common Name: Early Morel Cap: Brownish Flesh:  Gills: N/A Stalk: Medium, colored cream, smooth, filled with a cottony substance. Fruiting: Scattered and clustered on soil. Spring. Woods mainly. Edibility: Some people do eat these, they have been known to cause some stomach discomfort. Look A-likes: Morchella semilibera Note: The top mushroom was found in May 2002 in upstate New York. The lower photo was found in April in New Mexico.
